Forensics
With respect to Michelle's family and friends,
I have not posted pictures of Michelle or the scene. My source
information is the autopsy report and colored photocopies of
scene pictures. We welcome further and closer examination by
forensic professionals and will provide further information
upon appropriate request.
My Background
I became
aware of this case through a colleague and viewed the available evidence with no predisposition other
than a career mostly in prosecution. I have never met Leo,
his wife Crissy or any other member of the team.
- 20 years: Investigator for the District Attorney,
Albuquerque, New Mexico, including 11 years in Violent Crimes
Division and 300 vehicular scenes involving death or
great bodily harm)
- 19 years to date: medicolegal investigations:
deputy medical investigator and deputy coroner (300+ death
scenes)
Conclusion: The Assailant was
left handed
Supporting Evidence
1. Location of the wounds - The
most serious wounds are on Decedent's left upper chest and
neck, and around to left side of Decedent's back. The location
and angle of the wound on Decedent's neck would be difficult
to achieve if the assailant was right handed.
2. Angles of Wounds - Hilt marks
on close inspection of these wounds indicate downward motion
with left hand. The deepest wounds have natural pressure marks
indicating the angle. There are red hilt marks on the top
and left sides of these wounds which would have required
the most pressure and velocity.
